Stocking Project

Last month I decided that I was well overdue to make our family some homemade Christmas stockings. I remembered seeing some super cute ones on my friend Jennie's blog so I got some info from her and she got me started on the right foot. Of course, most really cute things don't have a pattern . . . which was true in this case. I had a picture to work with and everything from there was guesswork on my part. Lucky for me, I have a mother-in-law who knows how to do everything when it comes to quilting/sewing. We pow-wowed over Skype with our webcams and she showed me how all the pieces needed to come together to get my desired result. So without further ado . . . . here is the finished product.

I also made two others that are super cute (a snowman and a wreath) but they will not be fully completed until there is a name to go with them. And NO, that is not forshadowing anything in the near future. :0)

Too cute

I just had to sit down and write about the cutest thing that happened 2 nights ago (yes two, I'm a little late). It was time for Easton to go to bed. He said he wasn't tired and really didn't want to go to bed. So I told him that I was tired and wanted to go to bed (which I really was) and jokingly said that he could come tuck ME in. So, I headed upstairs and lo and behold, here comes Easton right behind me. He really was going to tuck me in! :0) I put on my pj's and he pulled my covers down for me. When I got in bed he pulled them up on me and then layed down next to me. He turned to me and asked which songs I wanted him to sing to me. I told him that he could pick and very soon I was being serenaded to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Old McDonald (who had a cow and a duck), and Jingle Bells. Then he wanted to go get a book to read to me but I talked him out of it because one book means ten books and I was really tired. Then he told me he was going to tell me story. (This is something that Scott and Easton does - tell stories after they read books.) He told me the story of Dave the Unicorn. No joke, he spent about 5 minutes telling me the story of how Dave went out into the woods and he came upon a mean woman and something something the woman became nice. He then hugged me and gave me a kiss and told me goodnight and that he loved me. I asked where he was going and he said "back downstairs with dad." It was so cute! The entire time I wasn't really sure what to do. I wanted to laugh because he was taking it very serious and he did exactly what Scott and I do with him at night. I wanted to give him a big squeeze and not let go because he was just too cute. I wanted to cry because my little boy is growing up way too fast.

Honorable Mention

I have to share some happiness . . . this past week one of my photo entires to the Coastal Carolina Fair Photography Contest brought home an "honorable mention" award! Hooray! Considering there are over one thousand entires, I was super surprised to walk into the building and find a ribbon hanging on one of my photos. The picture is of my cousin Hayley. I called her before I turned it in and she said it was going to be a "lucky" photo. She was right! :0)

The Cake

I had to post a quick pic of Mia's birthday cake. I'm a little ashamed to mention the number of hours it took to finally get this right . . . . but hey, I think it turned out pretty good and Mia ate off an entire ear!
