Thanksgiving

This year we spent Thanksgiving in St. George. We were glad that we all made it as Easton & I headed out a few days early with Scott coming the day before Thanksgiving. We all experienced delays in Atlanta because of the lovely fog. All the pain of traveling was worth it for the great times had with the family during the week. I love my family and love to be in St. George with them.

The ENTIRE family was home including 2 of my sister's friends from Provo who are a blast. We all payed games, ate, watched movies, ate, watched BYU win over Utah, ate, and ate some more. Thanks to all of the great cooking and Grandma Frei's homemade pies I'm sure I have gained 10 pounds. :) Easton LOVED playing with his cousin AnnDee! I think we are going to include "the shadow" as one of his many nicknames. They did everything together. My sister KayDee's birthday was Saturday and we got to help her husband Chris plan a surprise candle light dinner and party with all the fam. It really turned out great and KayDee, for once, was finally surprised on her birthday (no more complaining Kayd).

Having been away from "home" for over 3 weeks now I am realizing all the little things that I am thankful for that we had there. Easy access to church, and temples. Desertet & Seagull Book. No smoking in public places. A garage that both cars and all our stuff could fit in. But mostly our good friends that lived by us. It's great to know you can count on people to help you out when you are in a bind or need a listening ear. To take a last minute trip to the park to calm a crazy kid. To get together and play games and act like we are 16 again. To hold your hand and watch you cry as you get a nail pulled out of your foot. :) (I had to put that one in.) We love you and miss you guys a ton!

Telemarketers and Smokers

The one bad thing about moving to another state is getting a new phone number or two that has not yet been placed on the Do Not Call List. Wow! Every time the phone rings I get excited that someone I know might be calling but to no avail, it's always a telemarketer. I estimated that we get at least 10 calls a day from various companies. I've got to where I just don't answer it any more but Scott always makes it a point to answer and tell them that we're now on "the list" and not to call ever again. :)

Another thing that has been driving me crazy are smokers. The first time we headed out to a restaraunt here and went inside I wondered where on earth the stinky smell was coming from only to find people smoking inside. What??!!!! How horrible! I was quickly brought to the realization that gone are the days of the Utah Clean Air Act and smoke-free public places. We are now having to get used to asking for the non-smoking section when going out.

AT LAST!

Wow! I had a lot of work to do to catch up on the blog. On the side bar I've added some pictures from while we were in St. George during Halloween, etc. Easton was a skeleton pirate and had a blast his first time trick-or-treating despite an ear infection he picked up while in California. Above are pictures of the house where we now live in Summerville, South Carolina. It's a pretty place out here with lots of trees. The grass stays green all year long and there is no need for sprinkler systems because of the moisture and rain. Mountains have been replaced with beaches but I guess we'll get used to that. The weather is much like St. George right now during the winter but once the heat and humidity starts to pick up in May I hear it gets pretty crazy. Apparently come July we'll see all kinds of bugs we've never seen before. He he he. Our new ward is cool. There are a lot of families with small children and we even found couple that likes to play Settlers! That will be on the schedule for after Thanksgiving. I counted 20 kids in nursery which is crazy because I got a calling today to be in nursery. I have a feeling my patience will be tested a time or two. :) Scott is really enjoying his new job with Shipper's Commonwealth. Now that we are all unpacked Easton and I are going to have to go exploring while Scott is at work.

ALIVE!

Well, we made it safely to Charelston and are almost settled in. Everything is so much qicker on the arriving end of things than the leaving end. It took all day long to pack our moving trailer and only 2 hours to unload it (thanks to the help of 6 men from our new ward). It took me weeks to pack up all of our stuff and only a week to unpack and put away. :) Because we had to abandon nearly our whole pantry of food we had to start from scratch. Let's just say we've never spent so much money at Sam's Club in one trip in our lives. Wow! Now that we are nearly unpacked I could probably manage to find my camera and take a few picutres to post. My computer is also set up now so that is good. Just wanted to write a quick note so you all know we are here and well and have just been extremely busy unpacking. Look for some picutres and updates within the next few days.
