Salt Lake

We've now been in Salt Lake since last Wednesday. We celebrated the 24th of July (and my birthday :)) with Scott's family doing all sorts of fun activities. We also made it to Hogle Zoo and Lagoon. Easton is having way too much fun with his cousins! We've got a few more days before we fly home. It's been a great trip but we'll be glad to be back home and see the progress of the house.

The Cabin

Last night we returned from a short trip to the cabin in Kolob with mom, dad, and Shelbee. It's been well over a year since I've been there. It's so pretty and green and peaceful. I love it when Easton can go because it is a place where I grew up going and have a lot of fun memories there. Easton had a blast! So much fun infact that he quickly adapted a "night owl" routine on Utah time staying up until around 11:00 p.m. which is 1:00 a.m. South Carolina time. Yikes! Scott is going to kill me. :) Easton loved riding on the Rhino, swinging, and helping Papa around the cabin. He never wants too much to do with me when everyone else is around. Here are a few pics.

And We're Off . . .

In just a few short hours Easton and I will be on the plane and headed for Utah! Hooray! I am very excited as we have not been in Salt Lake since Christmas and in St. George since Thanksgiving. Easton is excited to see "Yaya" and "Papa" today and have lots of kids to play with. :) After 10 days in St. George we will meet up with Scott in Salt Lake and spend a week with his family before returning home. We'll be escaping the humid heat here only to experience the dry heat in St. George. Hopefully we'll survive!

4th of July

Finally a 4th of July collaberation. We spent the first part of the day at the beach at Isle of Palms. Easton loved building sand castles and playing in the ocean. He still doesn't quite realize that he can't swim yet. :) The weather was great and Scott & I had a good few hours of relaxation. Later in the afternoon we attended a little gathering in the town square where they had games and jump castles for the kids. Easton impressed me by going down the big huge air slide by himself. That's a tall slide even for me. That evening we did our own little BBQ and got ready for the fireworks. Rather than going to the park where the "big" show was to take place, we stayed at home and enjoyed lighting our own fireworks with a few of the neighbors from across the street. You can buy some great fireworks here! Pretty much anything that was illegal in Utah is legal here. Scott and I were a little nervous setting them off as we had never experience fireworks like that before. Easton had a great time but liked the sparklers the best. Is it just me or do those things only last for 3 seconds??? Good thing our neighbors introduced us to come cool kid sparklers that last about a minute and do cool things. Where were those when I was growing up? Anyway, we had a great weekend. It must be the place that we now live and being around so many military families but we are more grateful now than ever to live in the good 'ol US of A. We are so thankful for the sacrifice of all the servicemen/women and their families that allow us the freedoms that we so much enjoy!

Easton

We had these pictures taken last month and are just now getting the order back. They were taken by a lady in our ward at an old historical site here in Summerville that I love. Easton was looking for pirates the entire time but never found any. :)

More on our 4th of July weekend coming soon.

House Update

I know this could get a little boring for everyone else but we are just so excited about building a new house. Here is a recent pick. The outside is shaping up. The drywall is done as well as the trim (baseboards and crown molding). By the end of next week we should have cabinets and a driveway. Just a few more months to go! :)
