Flashback Friday: Stay away from rusty nails!

Angie and Liz will definitely remember this exciting morning at the county fair (2007). Easton and I were going to meet up with Angie, Liz & kids. We parked at the opposite entrace so started to head toward all the action. I was just innocently walking along and all the sudden I hear this little noise followed by a pain in my foot. Come to find out, the little noise was the sound of a big old rusty nail punching through my crocs and into my foot!!! There was no one around for help so I had to do my best to make it on one leg, pushing a stroller to find help. Luckily it wasn't long before a couple of ladies passed me and they were able to go get the paramedic that was on duty at the fair. Long story short, I took about 10 minutes to decide to let him pull the nail out, which horrified me because it was in there good (about 1/2 inch right between 2 bones toward the outside of my foot). I then had to drive myself to the Urgent Care (Angie & Liz kept Easton) to have it cleaned out and get a tetanus shot. That was loads of fun (can you hear the sarcasm?) and do not recommend it.

I do remember this day very well. I felt so bad for you, I was glad it all turned out. You held your own against that nail!

Who had the presence of mind to take pictures for you? Isn't it great how documented our lives are now with digital cameras? Glad everything worked out. BTW, I love your flashback Fridays!

Jess -- It reminds me of the time I was at my sewing machine and dropped a needle. I got up to look for it, stepped on it while looking, and it went through my shoe and into my heel. Like you, I had to not panic and try to deal with it on my own. I hopped across to the kitchen and down the stairs to the shop, where I had to pull it out with a set of pliers. Strangely enough, the eye of the needle was the part that went through into my foot. I still freak out now when a needle or pin is missing!

I read the title of this post and instantly started laughing. Not that it was funny at the time, but it's a great memory! You were one tough woman!
And yes folks that was me that took the picture. I love to document things like this so thanks for letting me take the picture! :) Don't you still have the crocs too?

Oh, that sounds terrible. I do not know how you sat there and let them pull it out. When I worked at a podiatrists office a guy came in who had a nail through his foot and he had to be totally drugged up before he let us touch it :)

that reminds me of when we were younger, I was around 7 or 8 and I got a huge sticker from the back yard stuck in my foot and I wouldn't let you pull it. You talked me into laying in the recliner with my feet up and then you acted like you just need to get a better look and than you PULLED it. I cried it hurt so bad. When I read this story the pain came back. OUCH!!!
