Flashback Friday: Memorial Weekend

About this time last year (man, Easton looks small) we were headed out for a weekend camping trip. We've decided to make it a tradition and we're headed out shortly to do it again. This time we're going with some friends and that should make it even more fun. Everyone please have a fun and SAFE Memorial Day!!!

Happy Birthday Easton!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EASTON!!!

Our birthday boy turned 3 today. Where does the time go???!! We had a fun day together as a family and ate birthday cake for the second time. Earlier in the week on Thursday we had a party with 8 of his friends at a place called Celebration Town. They have 7 or 8 different kinds of jump castles/slides, etc. that the kids went crazy on. Easton worked up a sweat within the first 10 minutes. :0) There he is taking after his mother. He really enjoyed his party AND the pirate ship birthday cake that he requested for the 2nd year in a row. (If I have to make another one next year I may be flat out of ideas.) Thank you to all of his friends for coming and for the fun gifts. Also to all of our family who couldn't be with us, thank you as well. Easton felt like a pretty special boy. Now the problem is going to be getting him to realize that it happens only one day each year!

The Second Half of the Trip

I'm just getting around to posting about the second half of our awesome week in Orlando with my parents and AnnDee. I think I left off last when we were about to go diving in the Aquarium at Epcot. The do not allow you to take anything with you but your swim suit so I don't have pictures. We did have a videographer on the dive though and got a video of it from them. It was VERY COOL! Epcot's awuarium is the largest in North America. They had some great sea life in there; 2 large loggerhead sea turtles that were very friendly, 5 shark (some sand sharks and one black tip reef shark), some sting rays and a very cool and decent sized eagle ray, and a bazillion fish of all kinds. I swear there was a grouper in there the size of a small child! We were down for about 45 minutes and had a great time. We also enjoyed the "behind the scenes" tour we got to do before the dive. It's amazing to me that they will spend thousands of dollars on a tiny little fish if it gets sick. They will make it better! :0) I'll see what I can't do about getting a few clips off the video to post just because it was so much fun.

On Wednesday we headed out for another full day of parking at Animal Kingdom. We started off with the cooler than ever Bug's Life 3-D interactive show in the big Tree of Life. That is always a classic. Something new to us this time around was "Finding Nemo - The Musical." This was complete Broadway material and was super cute and clever. We loved it! The animals at this place are amazing, especially on the African Safari. Easton LOVED the safari (it was a good thing too as we had to stand in line for nearly an hour to get on it before the park closed).

Here are a few shots of the pirate ship in one of the kids pools at our resort. On the days that we hung out at the resort Easton and AnnDee had a blast at the pool and played in it all day long. We really had to twist their arms to even get out to eat. They had such a great time together!

Thanks again mom and dad! We had a blast!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

I'm taking this opportunity to wish my beautiful wife a very Happy Mother's Day. She is so special to Easton, Mia, and me. She does so much for us and as much as we try to say how much and show how much we appreciate her I don't think it's ever enough. She's willing to sacrifice so much for her kids. She's a wonderful Mom and an awesome wife. We appreciate everything you do for us. We hope today is a happy day for you and we can show you just how much we care and love you.

We love you Jess!! Thank you for being our Mom and Wife. Happy Mother's Day!!
Love,
Scott, Easton, and Mia
P.S. Happy Mother's Day to all the other mother's out there too including my own.

Half way

We are now half-way into our sunny Orlando vacation with my parents. We've been having such a fun time! On Saturday we went to Sea World. This is always a favorite. We saw everything there was to see and Scott got to ride their brand new roller coaster ride "Manta"(which actually opened a few days ahead of schedule). It was a little too twisty for me. :0) For lunch that dad my dad made us special reservations to "Dine with Shamu." There is an area behind the scenes of Shamu stadium where we got to eat lunch while the Shamu show was going on. Once it was over they brought Shamu and a few other whales of the Sahmu family over to meet us. We got to see how they train and work with the killer whales. This was awesome! We got to see them so much closer than you ever get to during the shows. I'm talking like 5 feet away! Easton thought it was the coolest thing.

We got to see a cool animal show with Jack Hannah! This guy is fun to watch on tv. Kind of like a Steve Irwin crocodile hunter if you don't know who he is. He was only there for 2 days doing his show.

On Sunday my parents watched the kids and let Scott and I head out for a date! We covered both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in one day! Islands of Adventure has always been a favorite of ours. Over the years I've become less and less brave when it comes to riding crazy rides. But, I did manage to muster the gall to ride on the Incredible Hulk coaster not only once but twice that day! Hooray for me! It really is a cool ride though. The Spiderman ride is very cool too. We spent most of the day soaking wet from the 2 water rides we went on but luckily dried out enough before we caught the new X-men Wolverine movie that evening. It was a great day! Thanks mom and dad!

Yesterday (Monday) we went to Disney World. For some odd reason it seemed like the rest of world was there too. Very busy. It's a good thing mom likes to rent a motorized wheel chair (we walk her to death) because that allowed us to skip most of the lines that we ran in to.

Easton & AnnDee thoroughly enjoyed the day. Can you guess what Easton's favorite ride was??? Yes, Pirates of the Carribean. I think we rode it 3 or 4 times. Mia even liked Pirates too but I think her favorite was Small World. Easton tried riding Thunder Mountain for the first time and he actually liked it. He was about to go on Splash Mountain but changed his mind when they went to get in line. I'm glad he did because that one worried me. I didn't want him to be scared and never go on a ride again for a long time. :0) The kids were troopers as we got there when it opened and didn't leave until about 8:00 p.m. Much longer than we had anticipated staying.

Today we had planned to hang out here at the resort (Mariott Harbour Lakes) and rest up from our long day yesterday. The kids love it here because the whole resort is "pirate" themed. One of the pools has a big pirate ship in it that has slides off it and water squirting canons. There is also a pirate splash pad. Easton seriously thinks he has died and gone to heaven. I'll have to get some pics of the ship before we leave. This evening Scott, my dad, and I are headed to Epcot to go scuba diving in the big aquarium there. It should be pretty exciting as I think it is the largest aquarium in North America. Hope we don't get snacked on by any of the shark! Tomorrow we are off to Animal Kingdom!

Flashback Friday: Strawberry Picking

In this post we "flash back" a whopping 3 weeks ago when we went on our first trip of the season to pick strawberries at a local farm. It is one of our favorite things to do this time of year and Easton is a lot more help this year than he was last year! Enjoy the little video (I would have posted it earlier but it was also part of my mom's birthday video that we made so I couldn't give it away).
