New Moon
Two books down, one to go. New Moon was great as well but didn't really pick up and get too exciting until about half way through. I think I've convinced half of my family to read them because they are so surprised I've gotten through the first two that quickly. It does help to have grandma keeping an eye out on Easton while I read as well. :)

Twilight
Because I rarely have time to read nor the attention span to sit for long periods of time without falling asleep, I don't read many books. That may actually be an exaggeration. The only books I have read in the past 4 years are the Harry Potter series and Memoirs of a Geisha. :) Last month I bought Twilight by Stephenie Myer as I was bound and detemined to see what all the hype was about that surrounded this book. To my utter surprise, I read a few chapters on the plane to LA while Easton was asleep on grandma and then couldn't put it down over the next 2 days. As of early this morning I finished the book in record time for me! All 498 pages of it. What a great book! I was enthralled with the teenage love story with the vampire twist. Great fun! I'm now anxious to get started on the 2nd book and on to the 3rd. I purchased them on Saturday at a Barnes & Noble here in Newport already knowing at that point that I would want to read them. I'm now on the bandwagon!!!!

A Done Deal
Packing the trailer was quite the ordeal. Scott estimated that we would need 21 feet but we ended up using all 26 feet and we still couldn't fit our grill and a few misc. items. Moral of the story . . . don't move cross country. :) Thanks to all of our family and friends who helped us get out of there in one piece. We will miss you all!

Let the games begin!
We now have 2 days left before the "big day" of loading the trailer, cleaning, and getting out of the house. Everything is a mess! I keep questioning Scott on how all of our stuff is going to fit in a seemingly small 28 foot trailer but I guess in the eyes of a former mover, that is a lot of room. Who would have known? I was able to have a break last night and go to dinner with some of my good friends in the neighborhood. Girls only. No husbands or kids. We went to PF Chang's downtown and had a great time eating and chatting the evening away. It was nearly 10:00 p.m. by the time we left. Our waitress told us we could stay as long as we wanted but deep down you could tell she wanted us to leave so she could have more people seated in her area. :) It really was a great time and was something we should have started doing a long time ago and a lot more often. Though I am not one to show my emotions outwardly when it comes to sad things (secretly I am a big cry baby), I am really going to miss them all. They are great and inspiring women who will be life-long friends.

Gardner Village
Yesterday we went to have some fun at Gardner Village and take a break from packing and disorganization. Every year during October they have a whole bunch of cute and creative witches displayed around the village. It is tradition to walk around and check out the new additions each year. And of course, what would an outing be without pictures? If anyone goes to see the display I would highly recommend stopping by the "Naborhood Bakery" for a great sandwich on some of the best homemade bread around. Their cookies, pastries, and desserts are to die for!Monday, October 1, 2007
The Joys of Moving
I've never had to move very far away before. It's always consisted of loading my belongings in the car and making a few trips back and forth across town until the transfer was complete. This moving "cross country" business is for the birds! First there is the "what do we need and what can we go without" process. Then there's the combing through of everything to make piles to be taken to the DI. Once that is complete you can start packing the things that you won't immediately need before leaving the house. On top of that you have to set up the transport comany to drop off and pick up the trailer when you want. Transport vehicles so that they arrive in a timely manner so you don't have to pay for a rental car. Coordinate air line tickets/flights to move away only to return for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The list could go on and on. Scott and I have found ourselves writing out many lists to keep ourselves organized so that everything happens as it needs to. We'll be pros after all this! :) Here's to living out of a suitcase for a few weeks!
