Spices, Seasonings, & Condiments

So, I'm up late playing on the computer because daylight savings has me all messed up. :0) This is a completely random post but over the weekend Easton and I made some mac & cheese for lunch one day and I noticed that I have developed a habit (thanks to Scott) of putting lemon pepper on my mac & cheese. When I first saw Scott do it I thought it sounded really gross but now I am a believer. From there I started thinking about all of the other little quirky things I put on food. I came up with 2 others: 1- I am a complete Ketchup lover. I can, and do, put ketchup on nearly everything short of cereal. Good thing it contains lycopine (good for the heart)! 2- Homemade Buttermilk Dressing is soo good! This MUST go on any meat and vegetable combo. My mom always made this dressing on days that we had a roast and veggies for dinner. At this point I'm not sure if it was intended to go on the salad or not but for years my family has been drenching our plates with buttermilk dressing. When we would have friends over for dinner when we had a roast they would always give us this nasty look but they soon caught on to the yumminess. The recipe has had to be passed all around to satisfy the "dressing" craving for many people.

With that, I would love to hear what everyone else puts on thier food that could possibly be considered wierd. I know everyone must have something. :0)

I can't think of anything weird for me right now, except I have eaten ketchup on my eggs. I also used to eat pretzels with sour cream, but I haven't done that in years. I microwave my oranges and grapefruit - does that count? When Jeremy's brother came home from his mission from backwoods Tennessee, he ate a lot of weird stuff. The only thing I can remember specifically is that he put malted milk powder on anything sweet (cereal, cake, ice cream...)
How do you make the buttermilk dressing?

It's not weird, but I'm a black pepper fanatic. I put it on almost anything that it can go with and a lot of it. I love pepper, but hardly ever use salt. I like olive oil on my toast instead of butter. I also like ketchup on eggs (and pepper too, of course!)

I am a ranch-aholic! Ranch goes with just about everything ya know? I have converted Danny's family now & they all have Ranch with their pizza & steaks.:0) My favorite is the local Wild Coyote Ranch-even the Lite version is to die for! I also like cream cheese & jam on Eggos, butter on saltine crackers, & syrup on my eggs. Does that make me weird? :0)

I've thought about this for a few days and I don't have any "weird" things that I put on food. I'm a pretty traditional person and don't think outside of the box too often. I just eat foods the way they are mostly. Brooklyn loves ranch. Marty loves A1 or BBQ sauce on all his meat. I'm just boring. The only thing I thought of is that I use cream of mushroom and chicken way too often in my recipes. Probably not the healthiest of choices, but the food is good! Sorry I don't have anything more exciting to share.

I remembered something I used to do when I was a teenager: I used to eat mayonnaise on toast. That's a little weird, right?

Jess,
you have the neatest posts, I love reading them, now that I know how to and it's funner to respond. You seem so happy in S. Carolina, I bet you're loving it there. I miss you girl. Any tri's lately? I'm still awaiting my first... hopefully someday. As for the answer to your post, I am a huge ketsup fan as well, and it goes on everything. I actually had a roommate who put ketsup on her mac and cheese, I did draw the line there though, I couldn't even try it. She ate it weekly though, I never got the nerve to have a bite, even though I genuinely can find a reason to put it on everything else.
