Happy Birthday Scott!

I feel like I've been out of the Blog world for a little bit but it is all for a good reason . . . . . it was SCOTT'S BIRTHDAY over the weekend (Saturday) and we had a SERIOUSLY BUSY week!

Scott is the BEST husband/dad ever! We love him so much and are glad we got to spend a special day with him on his birthday.

Hope you had a good one honey (and aren't feeling too old now that you're the big 3-0)! We love you!

Prom Sampler

Just wanted to post a few of my favorite photos from a Prom shoot over the weekend with some of my Young Women. They got a crazy bone and decided they wanted pictures taken at a playground/park. We had a great time and amazingly no one ripped their dress going down the slides, playing on the swings, or climbing all over the fire truck!

Love Story Meets Viva La Vida by Jon Schmidt

This is the latest relesase by my favorite pianist and one of the most talented musicians ever . . . Jon Schmidt. A few years ago he did an arrangement called "Pachebell meets U2." It's Cannon in D combined with With or Without You. Definitely one of the coolest songs ever. This arrangement is the same idea but with 2 different songs. Check out the You-Tube video. You won't be dissapointed!

Flashback Friday: Easter 2007

2 years ago we were in St. George for Easter. It was Easton's very first Easter Egg Hunt experience and he did pretty good. It was such a fun trip! My favorite part of Easter at home is the tradition of coloring easter eggs with Grandma Frei. Now this isn't coloring eggs with a dye kit bought from the store . . . . this is the real thing. We collect dandelions, tiny flowers, and certain types of leaves and wrap them around the eggs with string. Once that is done we put them into a big pot of water and onion shells to cook. Grandma always keeps an eye on the eggs so I'm not sure how long they cook but when they are done you let them cool a bit and then unwrap them. The onion shells dye the egg a brown color but then there are patterns made by the leaves and flowers. The dandelions come out yellow and there is usually a little purple flower that will dye it purple as well. It is the neatest thing to see and do. That whole process also makes those eggs DELICIOUS to eat! When we were younger we used to take our eggs out to Snow Canyon to the sand dunes and "race" our eggs by rolling them down the hills. It was great fun!

Pictures at the Park

Yesterday I took the kids to the park with the intention of taking their pictures, but I told Easton we were going to have a picnic and play with "the kids." I'm such a mean mom. :0) I didn't lie entirely though becuase I did pack him a little lunchables to eat while we were there. And there were random kids running around.

Mia is a little ham for the camera and Easton at nearly 3 years old is not capable of holding still and looking toward me with his eyes open all at the same time. It was killing me! We did get some great photos though so I thought I would share a few.

A Little Comparison

When Mia was born we were a little puzzled as to who she looked like. She had a few similarities to Easton but all in all was a look of her own. With Easton 50% of people thought he totally looked like me and the other half like Scott. At this point in time we have definitely confirmed that she is a "Daddy look-a-like" and Easton took after his mother after all. Scott's mom sent us this picture a long time ago for comparison. I couldn't believe how much they look alike!

Flashback Friday (a little late): G&G Frei

March 19th was my Grandma Frei's birthday. It came and went so fast that I decided I needed to do a post dedicated to her. I love my grandma dearly, and grandpa too! They have always been there for me and been involved in my life growing up. This June they will have been married for 67 years! Sweet!

The two things that I admire most about my grandma are 1) her example of faith, and 2) her work ethic.

When I was in middle school and high scool I would go spend the night at grandma's when grandpa was out to Panguitch feeding cattle or moving water lines. Oh the stories she would tell while I rubbed her feet and put her to sleep! They were always enjoyable to hear. One night she told me that when Grandpa was off to war with the army she prayed and promised Heavenly Father that she would say her prayers EVERY DAY and never miss if he would bring grandpa home safe. Lucky for all of us, grandpa did make it home safe. Years and years ago grandpa was hit by lightning while out working in the field at Panguitch. It is an amazing story (but I won't go into detail here) and grandpa came out of it alive but with some pretty bad burns down the side of his body. Grandpa said that it was his rubber watering boots that he was wearing that saved him. Grandma argues it was his "silkies" that he was wearing that saved him. I tend to agree with Grandma. :0) Grandma studies her scriptures daily and is always listening to conference talks and anything church related. She always encouraged us to serve a mission growing up and to live worthy to go to the temple. There isn't much that makes grandma more happy than being able to attend the temple with her family. She has a strong testimony that shows through her daily actions. I love that she has been, and still is so dedicated in the gospel!

Grandma taught me all about "elbow grease" at a very young age. When there is cleaning to be done it needs to be done well and thoroughly. She still prefers hand-washing dishes and hanging clothes out to dry on the clothes line. Grandma always has a garden planted in the yard and is know for her yummy vegetables. The reason that she can grow some darn good vegetables is because she spends hours and hours out there taking care of her garden in her wide brimmed hat. Grandma is always on the go and we just can't get her to slow down. She says that if she sits down she'll fall asleep. I venture to say that this work ethic has rubbed off on me. :0)

Happy birthday grandma! I love you!
