It's going to be a long school year!

Upon reading this title you may think that there is something going on with Easton and school. Well, that is not the case. Easton LOVES school and can't wait to go each morning. This battle I am referring to is between ME and the school kids that gather each morning at 6:45 a.m. right in front of our house at the newly relocated bus stop!!!!

I'm not sure where the bus stop was last year but I have no clue why it had to be moved to our front yard of all the places in the neighborhood. This is pretty much how it works every morning. 5:50 - Scott gets up early and gets ready for work. This does not wake nor bother anyone in the house. 6:45 - I wake up to kids screaming outside. I go downstairs and look out the front window to find a bunch of the kids running around and goofing off. 6:50 - Mia and Easton wake up to the same sounds. 7:00 - The bus comes and the kids are gone for about 15 minutes until the older kids gather in the same place. Some people could be reading this and thinking 7:00 is sleeping in!!! Let me plead my case. At some point we were all in a spot where our kids did not have to wake up early for school and you were able to enjoy that time of getting a little more sleep and not having to wake up early when you don't have to. I am in that spot! I would like to be able to enjoy this last year of not waking up early when I don't have to. Is there anything wrong with that?

After the first few mornings I decided that I needed to go out and talk to them. I tried to do it nicely and explained that I have small children in the house that don't need to be woken up at 6:45 every morning. Most of them felt bad and apologized. They were nice and quiet until the bus came. BUT, kids are kids and the next day came and the same thing happened. Then there are kids that showed up that didn't get my talk the previous day. Grrr! My neighbor has been out there a few times to tell them to keep the noise down as well (I've been out many more times as well, including this morning) but I've come to the conclusion that there's just not much we can do about it and that I might as well just plan on all of us being up by 7:00. Anyone ever had this problem? My neighbor (who has 2 young kids as well) and I have talked about putting a sign up in our yard each night before we go to bed to remind the kids to be quiet. We laughed at our idea but maybe it would work???

I dont see a problem with doing that! You can also call the schools and ask them to send out a letter about being respectful at at the bus stop. Where I use to live the bus stopped in front of our house too and we had alot of damage to the propery walls and rocks were always being thrown around! Dang those kids:)

I would lose it. I need my morning sleep! Meredith likes to sleep until about 9, and it's heaven. Do you know who the kids are? Could you talk to their parents? You could build one of those bus stop booths like you see for city buses...j/k Sorry! That stinks.

I would be so upset if I had a bus stop in front of my house. Do you have a corner house because I would think it would make more sense to have a bus stop on a corner lot instead of right in front of someone's house. Maybe your kids will get used to the noises after awhile and sleep through it again. Or else you can start putting your kids to bed earlier since they are getting up earlier.

You could throw your kids outside and have them babysat by the older kids. Don't forget to leave cereal bowls out on the porch.

So sorry Jess! I would TOTALLY leave a sign. Seriously. They need a reminder every day. I'm so wishing I was in your "spot" of getting a little more sleep in the morning. We are up every day at 6:00!

BTW I can't believe how big Mia is getting! Your kids are so stinkin' cute.

Yes, put up a sign. And talk to the bus driver and the district head of transportation- maybe they can move the stop?? Makes me wonder why they moved it in the first place. I bet someone else was getting woken up last year!!

Boo! That stinks! I'd be worried about the kids trampling the flower beds and ruining the yard. There's got to be something you can do. Did they not give you any warning or anything?
