Lazy

So, I've been very lazy at blogging lately. I've been trying to keep myself busy with house projects so I don't end up with a million things to do right before the baby is born. That's a good reason right? There has been no progress made on our "theft" investigation. The detective got really sick and didn't work for like a week. Hopefully he gets things rolling soon. Last Sunday we went to get my camera to take a picture of a tree frog that got squished in our front door (I will still take the pic and post it because it's still there and it's kinda funny) and discovered that my nice Canon camera with my new lens on it that I got for my b-day were also no where to be found. Man, whoever ran off with my stuff sure did get a deal! I get so mad every time I think about it. Hopefully I can get my old Powershot camera shaped up so we will at least have something to take pics when the baby is born.

On a lighter note I found a new limited version of Hershey Kisses at Target that I absolutely LOVE! Pumpkin Spice . . . . who would have thought? If you remotely like pumpkin at all, you will love these. I'd be interested to know who else has tried them and what you think. When I was seraching the web for a picture of them I ran onto a website of a guy that does reviews on candy. He had a review for every kind of Hershey Kiss and talked about how it tasted warm, frozen, refrigerated, etc. It was crazy.

THE WORST LUCK!!!!!

So, I am totally convinced that when it comes to things being stolen, I have the worst luck! The story goes like this . . . . . . . . today there were a handful of workers that were in and out of the house doing some warranty work of things that we've found since moving in. They were in and out of the house from 8:00 this morning to about 2:30 this afternoon. Unfortunately I didn't get my shower in before they started coming so I had to wait until they left to hop in the shower. Our fridge was also empty so as soon as I got out of the shower I put Easton in the car and we ran to the grocery store. Upon returning Easton crashed on the couch for a nap so I decided to go upstairs to vacuum the carpet in our room where they were working and move the furniture back. When I went to move the dresser I noticed that on the opposite end my big fat loaded jewelry box was gone. This of course being the jewelry box containing wedding ring #2! I immediately got this pit in my stomach but tried to convince myself that the workers probably just had to move it when they moved the dresser. But to my dismay, my frantic search turned up nothing.

I called Scott, I called the building supervisor who was in and out today too. She called the workers that were here and told them to all come back. I figured I'd better call the police as well and within 15 minutes we had to officers show up who were later followed by 2 detectives. (As a side note: that part of things was actually kind of cool.) They ended up questioning 3 of the men and of course none of them even recalled seeing it let alone taking it. Eww! It makes me so mad! There was a fresh layer of sawdust over all of our bedroom furniture from them cutting the floor boards. On the end of the dresser there were 4 squares where the legs of the jewelry box touched the dresser and not a spec of dust inside the square footprints! There is no doubt that one of them walked off with it! Anyway, they are going to do an investigation and take all of the workers in to do a polygraph test, etc. The detectives will be checking thier pawn shop databases to see if anything turns up. Why does my wedding ring always turn out missing? We can't afford any more. :)

Backyardigans Live

Yesterday Scott and I took Easton to see the Backyardigans live. It was The Tale of the Mighty Knights. I never thought I would go to a thing like this but Easton loves the Backyardigans so we thought we'd give it a try. Turns out, it was awesome! Easton had a blast and I even found myself singing along and wiggling around in my seat. They make it interactive for the kids and lots of fun. At the intermission Easton kept saying he wanted to see it again, not realizing we were just taking a short break. :) I saw that this show was headed to Salt Lake soon so if your little one(s) like the Backyardigans I would recommend getting some tickets for a fun family evening out.

House Pics

I finally got around to taking some pictures. Again, I still have a lot of decorating to do. Our guest room is not yet put together so it is not pictured but it has a big beautiful window seat in it that I just love. We worked on Easton's pirate room over the weekend so those pics are included. I still need to add the Jolley Rodger flag and the treasure chest when I find the right ones. Easton has requested some palm trees and crabs in the sand on his walls so that will be a project for Yaya (Grandma Jensen) when she comes out when the baby is born. She said she did not know if she could come out of painting retirement or not. :) We love the house! This week all the extra wild shrubs and tree shoots in our backyard are being removed to make way for a sod laying party this Saturday. I can't wait to have grass in the back! Then Easton can finally have his long awaited swing set.

Safe and Sound

I'm happy to say that all is well here in South Carolina! Hanna ended up curving a bit more which left the Charleston area out of the path of any major storm. We were all prepared for whatever was going to come but only got winds and lots of rain. I think I even slept pretty good that night. :) At any rate, it was good practice for anything in the future. Thank you to all for your concern.

As for the house, many of you have been asking for pics. We've finally emptied the last of the boxes (inside the house) and were able put things mostly where we want them. We also were albe to install some ceiling fans, etc. We also made an "organized mess" of the garage which will allow me to go though more stuff too see what we're keeping and getting rid of. Then I'm sure we'll need to put up some more shelving. Scott is leaving town for a few days for work so maybe I'll take a break from organizing and do a short video tour of the house. Of course, it will be pretty un-decorated. :)

Tropical Storm Hanna

So we're all settled in the new house and now bracing ourselves for tropical storm Hanna which is getting closer to hurricane strength and due to hit the Charleston area sometime between tonight and tomorrow morning. Yikes! Thought this is not considered to be a "big" storm, it makes me a little nervous to see the grocery stores loaded with people buying food, water, ice, and batteries. I went to 4 stores yesterday and there was not a size D battery anywhere in sight. This all brings a new importance to food storage and emergancy preparedness. :) I've managed to dig all our stuff out of the garage and get it together. As long as we can stay here at the house everything will be cool but if we had to evacuate for any reason. . . . . I think I might have a coronary! Wish us luck!
